A2 Level Spanish Language · AQA (legacy)
Week 1: Monday 3 - Friday 7 April
Week 2: Monday 10 - Friday 14 April
Week 3: Monday 17 - Friday 21 April
Length of Course
2pm to 6pm daily
The aim of this Spanish revision course is to develop sound exam techniques while revising the A2 content as per the AQA specification. Particular attention will be given to grammar and vocabulary related to the following prescribed topics:
- Environment: Pollution, Energy, Protecting the planet
- The multicultural society: Immigration, Integration, Racism
- Contemporary social issues: Wealth and poverty, Law and order, Impact of scientific and technological progress
One hour each day will be devoted to the various aspects of Spanish grammar which cause most difficulty. These will include: verb tenses; present and perfect subjunctive; present and perfect conditional; “if” clauses; infinitive; present participle; passive; pronouns; adjectives and adverbs.
The remaining hours will be spent working on board-specific exam preparation as follows:
SPAN3 Listening, Reading and Writing
Students will listen to recordings on the topics above and will be set exam-like tasks requiring short target-language or non-verbal responses (e.g. multiple choice questions).
Reading and Writing Section
Students will read articles on the topics above and will be set exam-like exercises requiring short target-language or non-verbal responses, as well as translation tasks from French into English and from English into Spanish.
Students will have the opportunity to practise their writing skills so as to improve the quality of their written Spanish. General advice will be given on how to tackle questions in this section (e.g. how to structure an essay). The specific Cultural Topics on which questions are based will not be
revised, as it is expected that each student will have chosen different topics.
SPA4T/V - Speaking Test
Students will practise discussing issues related to the topics above. Stimulus cards will be used, as in the exam, and advice will be given on how to develop and justify opinions. Revision will thus focus on Part 1 of the Speaking Test, whilst the specific Cultural Topics on which Part 2 is based will not be revised. However, by discussing issues for Part 1, students will improve their speaking skills, and this will stand them in good stead for Part 2 as well.
If you wish to revise specific Cultural Topics, please contact the college.
