The aim of this French revision course is to develop sound exam techniques while revising the A2 content as per the Edexcel specification. Particular attention will be given to grammar and specific vocabulary related to the following prescribed topics:

  • Youth culture and concerns
  • Lifestyle: health and fitness
  • The world around us: travel, tourism, environmental issues and the French-speaking world
  • Education and employment
  • Customs, traditions, beliefs and religions
  • National and international events: past, present and future
  • Literature and the arts.

One hour each day will be devoted to the various aspects of French grammar which cause most difficulty. These will include: verb tenses; use of indicative and subjunctive; agreement of past participles; pronouns; prepositional verbs; articles; adjectives and adverbs; passives and use of “if” clauses. Students will be tested each day on the previous day’s work. The remaining hours will be spent working on board-specific exam preparation as follows:

UNIT 3 6FR03 · Understanding and Spoken Response in French 

General conversation on contemporary issues related to A level topics. Advice and help with debate skills in relation to students’ chosen issue will be given.

UNIT 4 6FR04 · Research, Understanding and Written Response in French

Section A
Written translation exercise from English into French. 
Students will practice their translation skills applying the grammar rules required by the board.

Section B
Students will be given advice on writing creative and discursive essays.
Stimulus materials used during the course will be taken from a range of sources and will be related to the prescribed topic areas.

Section C
This section is on the culture and/or society of a French-language country, countries or community. The content of this section is based on each establishment’s decision. At MPW London we offer:
