Spring Term Bake Sale
The MPW student council got the final week of the Spring Term off to a great start with a Bake Sale on Monday 21st. First pioneered by Duke of Edinburgh award students last academic year, MPW bake sales have quickly proven to be very popular among staff and students, not to mention a great way of raising money for good causes. This time, the Student Council decided that the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) would be a very worthy beneficiary of any charitable donations.
The RNLI is a charity providing a 24-hour rescue service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. Their volunteer crews give up their time and comfort to carry out rescues in difficult and often dangerous conditions. As well as providing rescues at sea, the RNLI have a number of stations inland and closer to home, including four along the River Thames.
MPW bakers worked very hard over the weekend cooking treats for us all to enjoy. As with all good indulgences, there was a strong chocolate theme with highlights for me including the delicious triple chocolate muffins, two types of homemade cookies and a great gooey chocolate fudge brownie, among many others. The stall was based in reception throughout the day, with students giving up their time around lessons to sell the goodies and in the end we are pleased and proud to say that in total a fantastic £250 was raised for the RNLI. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and support for this event and in particular thanks go to the student council for making it happen.
