Field trips offer our students the opportunity to enhance their learning experience away from their regular school environment. It provides a setting for them to learn in a more hands-on and interactive manner and to help them develop the skills for critical observation and thinking.
Every year numerous field trips will be organised to increase students’ understanding of and exposure to curriculum related topics. Here are some of the field trips organised by our tutors, read on to find out more.
Bristol University trip
Before applying to university at the start of their A2 year, it is absolutely vital that students visit any university which they are seriously considering applying to. Universities differ to such great extents, both in their general characteristics and in the courses they offer. There are also major differences between similar courses at different universities; so while it may seem that a Biochemistry course at Birmingham will be the same as one at Liverpool, there will often be massive difference, both in course content and structure.
Aston University visit
As part of our University Support Programme, our Year 12 students visited Aston University to gain an insight into what it would be like to study at a campus-based university. They kindly organised a careers day which started with an enormously entertaining and thought-provoking talk on the legal profession from Odette Hutchinson, who was recently awarded UK Law Teacher of the Year, and Kris Lines, who is the LLB Law programme director.

A crucial part of the Geography A level course at MPW is getting out, meeting people and conducting face-to-face research with the people of Birmingham. Our second year A level Geography students visited Brindleyplace to discover the Birmingham public's thoughts and feelings of the recent regeneration taking place in Birmingham.
