(Government &) Politics A2 Edexcel (US Politics Route)

Length of course: 5 half-day sessions
Boards: Edexcel (9GP01) only  

This is a board-specific course focusing on the core topics embedded in both units that make up the A2 level (9GP01) specification.

This course is not appropriate for students studying the new Edexcel AS level Politics specification (8PL).

It is suitable only for students studying the US Politics route.

 

Unit 3: Key Themes: Representative Processes in the USA (6GP03 C)

Students will consider how adequate these processes are in terms of participation and democracy.

  • Elections and Voting
  • Political Parties
  • Pressure Groups
  • Racial and Ethnic politics

There will be a focus on Part A and Part B exam questions throughout the week.

Unit 4: Extended Themes: Governing the USA (6GP04 C)

Students will consider the principles of, and perspectives on, the US Constitution (including Federalism) and go on to examine the relationship between the legislative, executive and judicial processes.

There will be a focus on Part A and Part B exam questions throughout the week.
