Field trips offer our students the opportunity to enhance their learning experience away from their regular college environment. It provides a setting for them to learn in a hands-on and interactive manner while helping them develop critical skills, such as teamwork.
Every year, numerous field trips are organised to increase students’ understanding of and exposure to curriculum related topics.
Biology-Geography Field Trip
On Wednesday 30th September our Biology and Geography students travelled to the east Norfolk coast, once again to collect scientific data for both subjects' controlled assessments.
MPW students take the floor at Business Studies trip to London
On Monday, 27th April 2015, all our A Level students attended a popular Business Studies revision workshop run by Tutor2u. It was held at the VUE cinema in London, where the workshops took place with enormous PowerPoint presentations displayed on the cinema screens. But there was no time to sit back and relax, as the students were given workbooks and the lecturers kept the delivery really interactive!!
Students meet famous Philosophy of Religion lecturers
On Wednesday 19 November 2014 all the MPW AS and A2 Religious Studies students attended a Philosophy of Religion conference at the Guild Hall in Cambridge. Students had the opportunity to listen to lectures by Dr. Peter Vardy, his wife Charlotte Vardy and Jules Evans of Queen Mary University, London.
GCSE Residential Trip to Mepal
The GCSE Year group benefited from a mild Autumn as we journeyed to Mepal for our GCSE residential visit. Although the wind factor prevented us from sailing, we undertook a variety of other activities throughout our five day stay.
GCSE Chemistry trip to the Cambridge Science Festival
On the 15th of March, the MPW chemistry GCSE group saw the much anticipated lecture on rocket science, appropriately named “It’s Rocket Science”. It was part of the Cambridge Science Festival. We were accompanied by David Coates, our Chemistry teacher, and Lisa Foster, Head of GCSE. The lecture was exciting and entertaining but educational nonetheless.
Politics students visit Westminster
On the 8th of February, college organised an amazing trip to Parliament. A great opportunity to enjoy education in the centre of London.
Ethics Matters: A-level trip to ethics conference
On Wednesday 27th February students studying towards A level Religious Studies attended an Ethics Conference in Cambridge. The sessions covered some of the topics discussed at A level, including Kantian Ethics, Utilitarianism and Abortion. It was a great opportunity to look at the latest research and statistics and the views of Dr. Peter Vardy and Charlotte Vardy were certainly thought provoking.
GCSE trip to ‘The Woman in Black’
In December, the GCSE English literature students went to London to see ‘The Woman in Black’, a play well known for its spookiness. Our expectations were proved right, as we screamed at every opportunity.
