9am to 6pm daily
The course examines key topic areas and extensive use will be made of exam-based AS level questions to illustrate relevant principles. Revision notes and model answers will be provided where appropriate.
The course consists typically of three of the following units:
Core 1 (C1) Algebra; quadratic functions; coordinate geometry; curve sketching and transformations; sequences and series; differentiation; integration.
Core 2 (C2) Binomial expansions; sequences and series; circles; trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; integration; numerical
Mechanics 1 (M1) Vectors; kinematics; Newton’s laws of motion; momentum and impulse; statics; dynamics; moments.
Statistics 1 (S1) Descriptive statistics; probability; correlation and regression; discrete random variables; normal distribution; statistical modeling.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the topic areas students generally find most difficult, including completing the square, solving trigonometric equations, exponentials and logarithms, harder differentiation and integration questions, resolving forces, motion on a plane, connected particles, problems involving vectors, probability and the normal distribution.
Students can take fewer than three units.
