Ben Joscelyne

London G18

At the annual Epic CIC Art Explosion schools competition, once again a number of MPW students were invited to show their work. Last year in the main 16 -19 year group one of our students Brenda Guo was awarded first prize and MPW students were commended prize-winners in another two categories. Would we be as successful again this year? On the opening night we were really pleased to discover that yet again one of our students had won an award: at a packed event, the organisers announced that Ben Joscelyne gained second prize in the main event for his equally ‘epic’ drawing “I’m a student get me out of here!”  This large scale detailed drawing depicts a young man pressed up against what appears to be a giant fish eye lens. Not only did Ben receive a certificate and £100 of Cass Art vouchers, but as part of the prize, next September his art work will go on display in the prestigious Saatchi Galleries. This is a great achievement and opportunity for Ben and not only are we very proud of him, but moreover this competition continues to showcase the work of creative arts students and staff at MPW.

The other MPW students who exhibited their work were Jinlin Fang, Henry Lloyd Horton, Galina Lyubimova, Daniel Wang, Yuan Yuan Yu, Daniella Philipenkova. The standard of the MPW students’ work really stood out and they all should be congratulated for their efforts and hard work. I hope that we can maintain this winning steak with an even stronger showing next year.
