Our annual Carol Service at St Augustine's Church was a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Each year we celebrate the achievements of our most outstanding students in our prize-giving event. This years prize-giving was presided over by Dr George Harris whose work with young people in the West Midlands as a clinical psychologist has brought enormous benefit and acclaim from those he has worked with.
For Alice Carter-Pegg, retaking her A-levels paid off handsomely. In just one year with us her grades went from BDD to A*AA in maths, physics and economics.
On Thursday May 28th 2015 MPW Birmingham held its annual Sports Dinner at the Blue Piano restaurant, Edgbaston. The event is always one of the highlights of the year for students who are part of the football squad and was thoroughly enjoyed by all again this year.
On Monday, 27th April 2015, all our A Level students attended a popular Business Studies revision workshop run by Tutor2u. It was held at the VUE cinema in London, where the workshops took place with enormous PowerPoint presentations displayed on the cinema screens. But there was no time to sit back and relax, as the students were given workbooks and the lecturers kept the delivery really interactive!!
Congratulations to Richard on completing all five requisite sections of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to be awarded the highest level: Gold.
On Monday 20th April, Liberal Democrat MP Julian Huppert came to speak to us about his time in politics, issues with today’s politics and also issues with former politics and political figure heads. Huppert was pressed on a number of issues that surround young people today, with lots of the questions surrounding housing and tuition fees.
On Tuesday the 28th April MPW Birmingham hosted MPW Cambridge in a football match. For several years now the two colleges have entered into a friendly rivalry with matches taking place both home and away. Earlier on in the season we travelled to Cambridge for the first leg and left with a two goals to one victory. It was a close encounter and Birmingham won the game thanks to a wonder strike from Arun Burgess.
Being invited to take part in the first CIFE football tournament which was held at England’s national training facility at St George’s during the Easter break was a unique experience which was possibly the highlight of the year for MPW football. Winning it was the icing on the cake!
MPW Birmingham participated in the first CIFE football tournament which was held at the prestigious Saint George’s Park. This venue will need no introduction to the football fans amongst you because it is an official training venue of the England football team.
