The view from Queen’s Gate House – Autumn Term 2023

Posted by: Kenneth Chong - 14 December 2023 - Boarding - Read time: 3 minutes

Life at a boarding house is unique and exciting; it gives you the chance to meet new people from all over the world and experience life out of your hometown in a special way.

Some of the most cherished memories are created during the trips and activities the boarding house holds throughout the year. With activities in house during every week and trips plotted throughout London during the weekends, boarders get to experience the rich history and vibrant culture the city has to offer. Games are held in house every week, giving students a chance to play fun games and to relax.

Activities are also a regular occurrence as the houseparents organize activities such as movie nights, ceramic painting and karaoke sessions. During the weekends we have regular outings to iconic locations around London. Since the start of the term, the boarders have visited Thorpe Park, the Sea Life aquarium, and had the opportunity to compete in a casual game of bowling at Queensway bowling. When boarders were asked what was most memorable, almost all of them would answer: the outing to Thorpe Park. The outing was organized for the beginning of the term, and it created memorable moments where boarders were able to meet each other, share the excitement of the thrilling rides and most of all have fun! These activities in house and trips during the weekends are what makes the boarding experience at QGH so unique. With plans already afoot to go to ‘Up’ at the O2, Wicked the musical, and ICE at Kensington Palace (and many more), there’s a lot for the boarders at QGH to look forward to.
