MPW Birmingham Student Interview: Hannah
At MPW we work with a range of students of different ages. Thee college provides courses for GCSE, A level and NCUK students. We chat to Hannah, a Year 11 student, on her experiences here at the college as a GCSE student
What is life like as a GCSE student at MPW?
My life at MPW as a GCSE student is very full and enriching, as my timetable is tightly packed. I have 6 lessons every day, with some timed study periods. I do 9 subjects for my GCSE course so my knowledge is expanding on different aspects, such as sciences, languages, and humanities.
Can you tell us a little bit about how you prepare for your Timed Assignments?
I usually spend around an hour before each timed assignment reading through the booklets, to make sure I understand the content of that topic. I think timed assignments provide an opportunity for me to apply my knowledge to exam questions, strengthening my understanding.
What are you hoping to study at University?
I hope to study a healthcare-related subject at university, such as physiotherapy or nursing. I’ve been researching different universities to learn more about their healthcare courses, especially those that put high value on work placement.
What inspired you to want to study this?
My interest in biology, in particular human biology. I am keen to learn how the human body works, which I found very mysterious in the GCSE course.
If you had one piece of advice for future GCSE students at MPW Birmingham what would it be?
I would suggest GCSE students value their timed assignments. They help students to develop their understanding of every subject. More importantly, knowledge accumulates so that by the time the actual exams arrive, students will not have to revise for all the content. Preparing for timed assignments allows students to follow up with the teaching schedule, so students can easily manage their time for revision during their GCSE exams, like focusing more on their weaknesses.
