As one of the UK’s leading independent fifth and sixth-form colleges, we pride ourselves on having created an environment where students enjoy working hard. This year, our environment has taken on a different form. Student and staff safety is always a priority and government guidelines have been adhered to rigorously as an absolute minimum with one-way systems and social distancing in place to name but two measures. However, teaching and learning remain of utmost importance. We have seamlessly adapted to the demands of today’s world of education with face-to-face, online and blended classes. This ensures that those students who are yet unable to be with us here in Cambridge receive the highest standard of teaching and learning virtually, but alongside their peers in the physical classroom.

However, the underpinning values that make MPW such a special place to learn have remained unchanged. A degree of informality outside the classroom is balanced by an intensive teaching approach within the classroom, where each tutor shares the common objective of helping students to succeed and, when necessary, going that extra mile to do so. In addition, many of our tutors are examiners or write textbooks for the subjects that they teach.

Our commitment to education also includes the following:

• A guaranteed maximum class size of nine students for GCSE and A level.
• A programme of timetabled weekly one-hour tests, under exam conditions, in addition to regular lessons.
• A unique, one-to-one weekly personal tutor system that enables all students to achieve their full potential. Academic progress, university applications and general welfare and wellbeing all feature prominently.
• Expert UCAS advice.
• Specialist university entrance books published by MPW for MPW students.
  Summer 2020 proved to be another year for outstanding A level results, with students achieving tremendous success in all subjects. Overall, 79 per cent of all A level entries achieved grades A*-B.
