This course is designed for students preparing to apply for a BA Architecture degree and who would like support in developing a strong and distinctive architecture portfolio.
Students will learn what architecture schools look for in a portfolio and how to demonstrate their creativity, design thinking and ability to develop ideas from initial concepts through to more resolved outcomes.
Working with expert tutors, students will develop skills in:
• Portfolio selection and presentation
• Observational and architectural drawing
• Developing ideas from initial sketches to resolved concepts
• Spatial awareness and design thinking
• Model-making and three-dimensional exploration
• Presenting the creative process clearly
• Selecting and refining work for university applications
Students are encouraged to bring any existing portfolio, sketchbook or project work so that tutors can provide individual feedback and identify areas for further development.
Portfolio Interview Preparation
The course will also include mock interview preparation, giving students the opportunity to practise discussing their portfolio and explaining the thinking behind their work. Tutors will help students prepare for the types of questions commonly asked during Architecture admissions interviews and develop greater confidence in presenting and discussing their work.
By the end of the course, students should have developed a more focused and professionally presented portfolio, as well as greater confidence in presenting their ideas and discussing their work.
