Psychology revision trip
Year 13 and year 14 A level Psychology students were treated to a day at the Tutor2u conference covering exam technique at the Vue cinema in Stratford on the 28th of November 2024.
Tutor2u are recognised as experts in this field, having several sold-out conferences each academic year. Students assembled at the college at 8.30am and travelled by coach arriving at the venue by 10am. Students were accompanied by the Head of Department, Dr Konstantinos Foskolos and Dr Andrew Moore.
The conference consisted of two sessions; the morning session covered year one material, in particular social psychology and the afternoon session focused on research methods; a vital area as this makes up 35% of the marks overall. The sessions were interactive with students completing matching tasks and listing answers in order of accuracy. MPW students impressed us by completing several of the tasks with acute accuracy and shared their answers with the audience. It was excellent revision as these topics are covered in the first year.
The conference finished at 3.30pm. Verbal feedback from the student cohort was positive, they felt it was a worthwhile exercise and the way the staff presented information in a new format was especially helpful. MPW staff also had the opportunity to discuss issues regarding exam and marking techniques with Tutor2u staff. Students returned by coach arriving at the college at 5pm, concluding a productive day.

Who would have thought a trip to the cinema could have improved my psychology grade! Thank you so much to Tutor2u for a fun, interactive experience, which helped me gain insight into how to tackle tricky questions and hard essays; over-all a very productive day.

I thoroughly enjoyed our school trip to Westfield last week. I found the exam techniques taught extremely useful and will apply them to my revision for my A level exams this academic year. Additionally, the interactive nature of the workshop maintained my concentration and ensured I stayed interested the entire time which positively impacted my experience.

I enjoyed the trip, and it was very useful to practice key elements of essay writing, especially breaking down the AO2, and how best to answer the question in order to gain full marks. The research methods section was useful revision, as well as covering key words and their meanings.
