Week 2: 8 April – 12 April
Week 3: 15 April – 19 April

Edexcel (Pearson) 9371

Length of Course
40 hours

9am to 6pm daily

The course examines key topic areas and extensive use will be made of exam-based A2 level questions to illustrate relevant principles. Revision notes and model answers will be provided where appropriate.

The course consists typically of three of the following units

Core 3 (C3) Algebra and functions; trigonometry; exponentials and logarithms; differentiation; numerical methods.

Core 4 (C4) Partial fractions; binomial expansions; further differentiation and integration; vectors.

Mechanics 1 (M1) Vectors; kinematics; Newton’s laws of motion; momentum and impulse; statics; dynamics; moments.

Mechanics 2 (M2) Kinematics; projectile motion; centres of mass; work and energy; collisions; statics.

Statistics 1 (S1) Descriptive statistics; probability; correlation and regression; discrete random variables; normal distribution; statistical modeling.

Statistics 2 (S2) Binomial & Poisson distributions; continuous random variables, uniform distribution; hypothesis testing.

Students can take fewer than three units. Please indicate on the registration form which three units are required.

Timings Module
9.00 – 10.10am C3
10.10 – 10.25am Break
10.25 – 11.35am C3
11.35 – 11.50am Break

A typical A2 course will be one of the following combinations:
C3/C4/M1                     C3/C4/S1                    C3/C4/M2                    C3/C4/S2

Further Mathematics units FP1, FP2 and D1 will be available on request.

It is possible for a student to take fewer than three units. When this occurs the course fee will be adjusted on a pro rata basis.

Students may wish to take a combination of AS and A2 units in a single week and our timetable is sufficiently flexible to accommodate this. If you would like any more details about the course content or how it is structured, please do not hesitate to telephone one of the Course Directors.
