Activities & Sports
At MPW, we organise social and physical activities all year round providing our students with a fun and relaxed environment to help them stay healthy, interact with peers who share common interests, enhance leadership skills and prepare for the future.
We believe studies are just part of the student experience; we encourage our students to take part in social events ranging from raising awareness through a charity campaign, joining a debating session or simply stretching their legs and arms at the local climbing centre.
Students who love sport will have plenty of opportunity to meet up with likeminded friends - or make new ones - through a large variety of sports clubs here at MPW.
UCAS Week 2016
Aimed at giving year 12 a head start prior to the busy beginnings of year 13, UCAS Week helps students explore the various options that will be available to them after leaving school. Of course as the name suggests a large part of this is dedicated to university applications and this year was no different with sessions on: how to approach the personal statement; Oxbridge; Art School; and applying to university in the US.
Gap Year/Vacation Activities Fair 2016
For the sixth year running, the college’s annual Gap Year Fair took place on Wednesday 27th April. MPW students and their parents were treated to a host of inspiring ideas about how to make the most of their spare time during college vacations, as well as informing them about gap-year activities.
MPW's champions do it again!
The second CIFE football tournament was again held at England’s national training facility at St George’s during the Easter break. It is the highlight of the MPW football calendar.
Spring Term Bake Sale
The MPW student council got the final week of the Spring Term off to a great start with a Bake Sale on Monday 21st to raise money for the RNLI.
Principal's Lecture: Sustainability
For our fourth Principal's Lecture of this academic year, Hugo Gorst-Williams visited MPW to deliver a lecture entitled “Negotiating the new Sustainable Development Goals: How the Goals were made – and what comes next?”
Sport 2015-16: Football
Football is a popular sport at MPW. Training and matches are well-attended and, as many students have spent years playing at their previous schools, the team is a strong one. Last year MPW London won the league in the Autumn Term followed by the CIFE cup in the Spring Term. We are hoping that this year's team will be able to follow in their footsteps; follow their progress on this page with regular updates on matches.
Principal's Lecture: The Work and Role of the House of Lords
Baroness Perry, who entered the House of Lords in 1991 after a very active career in Education, provided MPW students, most them studying Politics for A level, with a very extensive introduction to the Upper House. She was interested in students’ views and, when she touched upon various controversial issues, she encouraged the audience to contribute.
This year we entered eight MPW art students for the EpicCiC ‘Art Explosion’ competition sponsored by the Saatchi Gallery. We were not disappointed: FOUR of the eight won prizes, a tremendous achievement.
