Thu Ha (Bennie) Khuat
To be a gifted and talented student would appear to be a prerequisite before attempting any creative subject. But achieving success in two or more technically demanding arts A levels requires a particular calibre of pupil. In 2014 Thu Ha, or Bennie as we all know her, emerged as one of our most original and talented Art and Design students, displaying a self-possession, determination and an engaging character. Undoubtedly, everyone who taught Bennie enjoyed the experience.
Bennie has attended MPW as an international student for the past two years and it has been gratifying to see her confidence and ability develop and strengthen in all areas. She has undertaken three endorsements within the department (Art, Textiles and Photography) to a consistently high standard. She has also attended the portfolio preparation course and gained a first-choice application place within the University of the Arts at the London College of Fashion.
Bennie’s flair, enthusiasm and overall temperament have set her apart from her peers and this undoubtedly led to her deserved nomination for the Art Prize in 2014. Showing natural ability is one attribute that is necessary to success, but Bennie’s consistent hard work and passion across all of her courses here are qualities which will no doubt continue into her future education and subsequent career. We wish her every success in her studies after leaving the college.
This year the MPW Art Prize was shared between two students: Thu Ha Khuat and Emma Branflick.
