MPW Fam Trip 2019

Posted by: MPW - 06 February 2019 - MPW London - Read time: 2

Last week we were delighted to host agents, education consultants and counsellors from across the globe for the annual MPW familiarisation (or Fam) trip. We welcomed delegates from as far a field as Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Russia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Singapore and Thailand.

The week-long trip provided a unique opportunity for our guests to experience all three MPW colleges and the exciting cities in which they’re located.

Despite the cold weather, there was a very warm welcome awaiting agents in London on the Monday night for an informal reception, where they had a chance to meet MPW staff and their fellow guests.

The trip began in earnest on the following day at MPW London. Principal John Southworth and Spencer Coles, MPW CEO, welcomed delegates to the college before they took part in sessions exploring MPW’s unique teaching culture and high level of pastoral support offered to students. They then saw the theory in action as they toured the college and chatted with students.

Guest speaker Lana Foster, Director of Bright World Guardianships, delivered an informative session on guardianships, before delegates visited MPW London’s accommodation at Lightfoot Hall.

The next stop on the Fam Trip was MPW Cambridge. Delegates began with a tour of the various accommodation options offered in the city, before heading to the college for an introduction to MPW Cambridge by Principal Markus Bernhardt. He also delivered an entertaining and interactive Oxbridge Masterclass, which took delegates on a deep dive of the Oxbridge application process.

It was then a hop across country to Greenfield Crescent, Edgbaston, home to MPW Birmingham, to meet college Principal Mark Shingleton and his team. Delegates again had the chance to sample the college and learn more about MPW’s teaching methods as well as the British education system in general.

Before departing Birmingham, delegates had one final, sweet surprise – a trip to Cadbury World chocolate factory!

We wish to thank all our fantastic delegates for taking the time to join us and to all MPW staff involved for making everything happen.
