Comic Relief

Comic Relief

The second project organised by our Envision group this academic year was the Comic Relief fundraising day. After much debate, it was decided that a fancy dress theme would be the best way of getting the maximum number of people involved, so on red nose day, students and staff alike donned their costumes and headed into college.

There were loads of different themes that people had used when deciding what to dress up as; these included pyjamas, formal and geek as well as random fancy dress. As students arrived at college on the morning of the event, it was clear that many had made a great effort and were really entering into the comic relief spirit!

In terms of the serious side of the day, the Envision group had taken time in the weeks leading up to the event to research the various causes that Comic Relief supported and consequently were keen to raise as much money as possible. So throughout the day, students donated money for wearing fancy dress and many of those who didn’t dress up still dug deep to give.

Some highlights of the day included seeing Bridget dressed as a jester, Adam dressed as Wally from “Where’s Wally”, Emma as Alice form Alice in wonderland, Juwaireya as a vampire and James dressed as a penguin. Special mention goes to Shivani and Zayed, who won the best costume award form coming as Mario and Luigi.

By the end of the day, we had raised over £300. All involved had a brilliant day and were able to contribute to this worthy charity while having a great deal of fun.
