Extra-curricular Project - WORLD CUP HENRY V
It’s nice to do something to promote the BBC charity telethons. Sport Relief came at a very busy time for the college, so we decided to do a pre-shot video to help spread the word through social media, as our contribution.
MPW connects Media Studies students to actors in Birmingham, and the contact led to the idea of making a Sport Relief video in which Shakespeare’s Henry V is re-imagined as the manager of a football team. He gives a rousing pre-battle speech to his players ... who are played by MPW’s very own team. The piece was posted to Facebook, and then re-posted by the people that run the ‘William Shakespeare’ page on the social network. We do not know how many views it had through the Bard’s own Facebook, but his page has over seven million subscribers, and the video received over 600 likes, meaning it must have ‘spread the word’ pretty well.
