The New Art Gallery Walsall

Birmingham F18

In GCSE and A Level Art and Design students are required to visit galleries on a regular basis.  One of the most interesting and eclectic collections of work in the Midlands is held at the New Art Gallery Walsall.  In addition to showcasing the works of Damien Hirst, Jacob Epstein and Tracey Emin the gallery celebrates the work of local students and artists.  MPW students not only engaged with these works, but were able to see a visiting exhibition by J.M.W Turner.  After seeing his work in books and online, experiencing the work first hand was a sublime experience for our budding painters.  The next stop will be visiting the Tate Liverpool in February in search of inspiration for the final exam project!
