Ancient History comes to MPW
They came, they saw, and they, erm, aim to conquer. Taking liberties with Julius Caesar’s famous quote, we can announce that GCSE Ancient History has arrived in all its pomp and glory (is that ‘gory’?) at MPW Cambridge.
The picture to the left depicts a lesson on the strategy and battle tactics of Alexander the Great’s Macedonian army and their opponents (the ‘Classical Indians’ of Prince Porus are pictured), all part of unit 1 OCR GCSE Ancient History. With chosen unit options covering the lives and times of the likes of Alexander the Great, Hannibal Barca and Cleopatra, our intrepid Year 11 students George, James and Josh have already begun by revisiting ancient authors like Arrian, Plutarch and Polybius and their accounts of famous battles such as Chaeronea, Issus and Cannae. Appropriate sacrifices will of course be made before their exams next summer!!
