Brindleyplace Geography Field Trip
A crucial part of the Geography A level course at MPW is getting out, meeting people and conducting face-to-face research with the people of Birmingham. Our second year A level Geography students visited Brindleyplace to discover the Birmingham public's thoughts and feelings of the recent regeneration taking place in Birmingham.
Politics trip to Westminster
At the great Westminster hall, which stands adjacent to the Houses of Parliament, crowds of students gathered with two common goals: to have their opinions challenged; and to challenge those of others.
Science vs Religion Debate
On Tuesday 30th January 2018, students and tutors turned out in force to exchange ideas about religion and evolution. The event was rich with thoughts and opinions and broke the record for the number of students in the audience for a debating event at the college.
Mind FULL or MINDFUL?
At MPW Cambridge, we recognise that students should be given an opportunity to experience a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Mindfulness and yoga sessions became an obvious choice – after all, how many of us can say that they live fully and clearly in the moment, with great awareness, balance and peace of mind?
Economics Conference
On December 11 2017, MPW’s Economics Department attended the PolEconUK A-Level Economics Students Conference in London. Key speakers included Tim Harford, a leading economist and author, Vince Cable, Kamal Ahmed, and John Redwood.
Christmas Bake Sale
Year 10 organised a charity Bake Sale at Christmas to raise donations for three very worthy causes and to meet the requirements of the volunteering section of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, which they are all working towards.
2017 Prize Giving
Each December, MPW’s Prize Giving evening is looked forward to by tutors and students alike as a fitting climax to the autumn term and this year’s event was no exception.
Maths Challenge
The UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, organised by the University of Leeds, is a competition aimed at the best student mathematicians in the country and is designed to test powers of reasoning and logic in a series of 25 mind bending puzzles.
Carol Service 2017
As always, St Augustine’s Church was a very welcoming venue for our Carol Concert guests, with smiling students at the door greeting families and friends, twinkling warm fairy lights surrounding their seats and a large Christmas tree at the front.
The New Art Gallery Walsall
In GCSE and A Level Art and Design students are required to visit galleries on a regular basis. One of the most interesting and eclectic collections of work in the Midlands is held at the New Art Gallery Walsall.
