MPW Cambridge students celebrate A level success

17 August 2017

2017 A Level Results Day

It’s A level results day and here at MPW Cambridge we are celebrating another successful year with A-level results of 36% A*-A grades and 65% A*-B grades. 12 students achieved at least 3 A*-A grades. Two students have been accepted to study at Cambridge, with one student off to read Mathematics and the other off to read Law. We also had one student going on to study Dentistry as a retaker. Beyond the superstars there are lots of fantastic stories of students that have joined MPW over the past two years on the back of disappointing previous results and have managed to achieve beyond their expectations and gain entry to leading universities across the UK and overseas.

Results day is when MPW begins to feel like a college again after a summer when it has been empty, and, except for the occasional interruption by refurbishment, quiet. It has been great to see our students coming in to pick up results – certainly one of the most pleasurable aspects of being a teacher. In our photos you can see Harry and Garray, who achieved lots of A-grades between them, Bridget who is off to study Physics at her first-choice university, the proud recipient of an A in Economics and Ro whose A*s in Maths and Economics  were hard-earned and especially pleasing. It has been a joy to see parents sharing the good news like Dominic's mother and father in his picture.

If you are a student leaving us this year we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for entrusting us with your future by choosing MPW and that we are very proud of the achievements of the class of 2017. We wish you all the very best for your onward journey and remember that if you ever need any advice or guidance in the future we will be here for you. Once an MPW student always an MPW student! We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 11 December for our annual Celebration of Achievement evening where we will be handing out awards and results certificates

If you are reading this article with a view to joining MPW this academic year you may be wondering what the secret is to our outstanding success. First and foremost, we have brilliant, dedicated teachers who work tirelessly to ensure students are intellectually pushed and technically prepared for their examinations. We will also offer a curriculum that allows students to maximise their potential. We ensure that each student is on a personalised course that is just right for them. Our maximum class size is nine to ensure that all students receive lots of attention for our teachers and we make sure our students are on track with weekly mock exams in each subject. You don’t need to take our word for it when we say that our students and staff are outstanding. Just read our most recent Ofsted report where we are judged to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas!

Results day might not have been a happy experience for you this year: you might have received disappointing A level or AS level results and be wondering what exactly the future holds. Many of our successful students today were in a similar situation last year or the year before and now know it was worthwhile to take an extra year over their education or even switch schools to reach their full potential. It is this final idea that links our diverse selection of students who follow the many different courses on offer at MPW. They might have dreams of following a wide variety of careers (dentists, airline pilots, make-up technicians, railway engineers, to name a few from the class of 2017), but they are linked by the desire to gain the best grades they possibly can.

If you want to consider joining MPW for September call us today to book an appointment with a member or our senior management team. Alternatively, if you are planning longer in the future why not attend our Autumn Term Open Day on Thursday 2 November, where you can get a feel for the place by experiencing a normal working day and have a discussion with a member of our Senior Management Team.  You can also boost your chances of success at your current school by registering for our extremely popular Easter Revision courses which take place from Monday 26 March to Friday 13 April 2018. You could also supplement your current studies with bespoke 1:1 Support Tuition, which runs after school, on Saturday mornings and during the school holidays.
