Carol Service 2018
13 December 2018
Tuesday marked the annual Carol Service held in the wonderful St Augustine’s Church, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and Myeloma UK in which £421 was raised. The service started with a welcome from the Principal and Reverend William Leaf, which then led into our first carol of the evening with a solo of the first verse of ‘Once In Royal David’s City’ by Lauren Morton, which the audience then joined in with. This was followed by several performances.
Highlights of which were a beautiful instrumental of ‘Butterfly’ by Edvard Greig performed by Minqi Wang, ‘Spanischer Tanz’ by Moritz Moszkowski performed by Antony Chew on the violin, an original song by Sebastian Croft called ‘One Christmas Night’ and a Piano recital by Khayal Abbaszade, which was a musical tour of the world.
We were also treated to several readings throughout the night such as, ‘A Festival of Misery and Waste’ by A L Kennedy read by Harry Neville and Jemima Ellis as well as an extract from ‘A Christmas Carol: The End of It’ by Charles Dickens read by Lauren Mullen and Ardivan Tabrizi.
The evening closed with a healthy dose of mulled wine and mince pies.
