Keele University Field Trip

Birmingham F15 (1)

On Tuesday November 29th 2016, GCSE Science students spent the day exploring astronomy at Keele Univeristy.  Students experienced a planetarium and an observatory as well as take a tour around the historic campus.

The day started with a breathtaking experience inside the university's planeterium where students expored the origin of the universe.  Following this, they visited the university's Sustainability Hub to see a variety of experiments that brought to life the theories and formulaes of Isaac Newton.  After lunch, it was time to view the sun through a number of telescopes at the university's Observatory.  Specialist telescopes and filters allowed students to view the surface of the sun on what was a beautiful clear day. After lunch, students finished the day taking a tour around campus to see the different areas that make up a univeristy.
